APIDA at the University of Arizona

Learn more about APIDA and what it brings to a growing community of Wildcats

Asian, Pacific Islander and Desi Americans are the very definition of diversity. Yet they come together to form one of the fastest-growing and most supportive communities at the University of Arizona.

By the Numbers

APIDA is a diverse and inclusive community in and of itself, representing more than 40 nationalities, and a multitude of religions and languages. The population of Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi Americans in the U.S. has doubled in the past 20 years and is projected to quadruple by 2060.

Community Resources

Here’s a short list of the resources and opportunities that support the university’s vibrant Asian, Pacific Islander and Desi American community.

  1. APASA Cultural Center
The Asian American Cultural Association (APASA) Center is the community’s physical home base where students can meet, relax, talk to an advisor, find a tutor, reserve rooms, and check out equipment. The vibe is laid back and everyone is welcome. You can find the APASA Center in the SUMC, suite 409.
  2. Clubs and Organizations
student organizations and clubs it encourages community members to check out. The list includes two Greek organizations: Alpha Phi Gamma and Pi Alpha Phi. Plus, there are hundreds of other clubs and organizations on campus where Wildcats can find common ground and build lasting friendships.
  3. Housing and Curriculum
The APIDA Scholars Theme Community is a special living environment designed to help first-year students transition and succeed as Wildcats. A newly launched program affords students the opportunity to incorporate APIDA culture into their curriculum while earning a minor in APA Studies.
