Reflections from the Class of 2022

Did you know that in 1895, the University of Arizona’s first graduating class had just three students? We’ve come a long way since then.

On May 13, 2022, the university will celebrate its 158th Commencement ceremony. During this unforgettable event, thousands of students and their loved ones will gather in Arizona Stadium to celebrate their achievements. More than 4,500 degrees will be conferred as our graduating students become #Wildcatsforlife. And did we mention there will be fireworks?

In recognition of this exciting time, we asked graduating students to look back at their favorite memories during their time at Arizona, as well as share their hopes for the future. Here’s what they had to say.

What has been your favorite memory at the University of Arizona?

“The friends that I have made through my major and organizations I’ve joined.”
Meghan, Physiology

“Joining the Disability Cultural Center's staff and making a lot of new friends.”
Adelina, Linguistics

“Getting my full-time job and realizing that it was all worth it.”
Emily, Systems Engineering

What advice would you go back and give yourself as a first-year student?

“Join the clubs and activities. Everyone is in the same boat as you looking for friends, so don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.”
Madison, Business Management

“Attend as many university events as possible.”
Samuel, Biology

“Don’t worry about being homesick because it will eventually pass. After that, you will have the time of your life.”
Erin, Neuroscience & Cognitive Science

When thinking about your future after graduation, what are you most excited about?

“I am excited to live and work internationally after graduation.”
Laura, Entrepreneurship and Management Information Systems

“Pursuing an MD/PhD program at the University of Arizona. Ultimately, I want to achieve an academic faculty position at the College of Medicine.”
Lindsey, Neuroscience and Cognitive Science, Business Economics

“Starting a new chapter.”
Brady, Political Science

What are you looking forward to most during Commencement?

“That my family can see me graduate.”
Alicia, Psychology

“Taking pictures on the field of Arizona Stadium.”
Patrick, Management Information Systems

“I can’t put it into words right now, but the sense of achievement is going to overwhelm me!”
Celestin, Architecture

Want to be like these students, earning your degree and making a ton of memories along the way? It all starts with taking the first step of submitting your application. One day, you’ll be glad you did.
