A Scholarship for Everything

Aug. 15, 2012

Have you ever lived in Concord, Massachusetts? Are you enrolled in an aviation program? Maybe you’ve participated in the Ayn Rand Institute’s essay contest? Would you believe that your answers to these questions could help you land scholarship money?

There are scholarships for just about anything. The hard part for students has always been the research and legwork to find them. But here’s something you may not have thought of – Scholarship Universe, a fast and easy scholarship matching system, available exclusively for current or newly admitted University of Arizona students.

“It provides you with everything you need. You simply fill out the profile and it matches you to scholarships. Then you can file according to interest, if you’ve applied and if you’ve received the scholarship – it keeps you organized,” says UA junior, Jacklyne Volpe.

“I applied for three scholarships using Scholarship Universe and received every one. That paid for my whole first year, including living expenses,” says Jacklyne. That success helps explain why Scholarship Universe has grown to more than 22,000 users and students have reported more than $2.4 million in scholarships earned.

In recognition of its technical prowess and success in assisting students, Scholarship Universe won a 2012 Campus Technology Innovators award from Campus Technologymagazine. “We feel that being recognized as a worldwide technology innovator is a sign of our success in staying true to Student Affairs’ core values, and to the student population as a whole,” says Downs.

Downs notes that Scholarship Universe has much more in store for students. “In the near future we will be introducing UA departmental and alumni scholarships so that students will not only see the external scholarships they are eligible for, they will also see any UA scholarships they are eligible for either by major, college, or club affiliation.”

So if you haven’t tried Scholarship Universe yet, what exactly are you waiting for?
