Employment? It’s a good thing.

The University environment can be intimidating for some. If you’re one of the many students with no idea what direction you want your career path to go, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed in a sea of academia. But that’s exactly how Eileen McGarry, Career Services Director, felt when she was in college! So she’s made it her goal to create a strong support system for undecided and uncertain students at the University of Arizona.

One of the many resources provided by Career Services is the Wildcat Student Employment Fair, on Wednesday, August 25th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the Grand Ballroom of the Student Union. The goal of the event is to provide a simple and convenient way for students to make connections and find on-campus jobs, and provide information on how to use Wildcat Joblink to find positions all around town!

On-campus employment is a convenient way to stay afloat during your college years for many reasons. Working within an area of your interest provides opportunities to network around campus and gives a realistic understanding of what types of jobs are available post-graduation. And at the UA, we put the emphasis on STUDENT in the title “student employee.” Most departments are happy to work around class schedules, final exams, and holidays, which eliminates a lot of stress for you!

Career Services does much more than a few Employment Fairs a year. Students have free, constant access to information on how to dress for interviews, critiques of resumes, and on-campus interviews. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when you think about your looming graduation date, so take advantage of Career Services!
