The text size setting in your browser might be set to view small text. The new site uses variable font sizes throughout to be more accessible to people with disabilities and to be flexible so that users can change the size of the text based on their own needs.
Internet Explorer Browser:
To increase the font size select 'View", "Text Size", select "medium" or "larger". If you also use Eudora for email,
see the instructions below.
Internet Explorer & Eudora:
If you use both Internet Explorer for a browser and Eudora for email, Internet Explorer may default to a "smaller"
font size every time you launch the browser. Follow the instructions below to make Internet Explorer default "medium"
or "larger" every time.
The UA homepage needs to serve many different audiences (undergraduates, graduate students, future students, faculty,
researchers, staff, parents, alumni, visitors, community members, business partners, supporters, wildcat fans, etc). It is very
difficult to squeeze the links everyone needs onto one homepage. To best serve the needs of everyone, we created special homepages
for UA Students and Faculty & Staff. These pages provide specific information dedicated to their own needs.
On the new homepage, you will see a prominent link to "UA Students" - once you click on that link you are taken to a page designed
and built specifically for students. It will look very much like the Arizona.edu homepage but provide news, announcements, and
links for students. The new Faculty & Staff page provides news, announcements, and links specific to their needs.
Many of the links that are not used by all audiences have been moved off of the homepage and onto these special homepages.
WebMail, Student Link and the Catalog now appear prominently on
the UA Student homepage. Employee Link, WebMail, Human Resources appear prominently on the Faculty/Staff page. Our hope is that
Students and Faculty & Staff will bookmark and use these new homepages.
The new site was build with a 'fluid' design. The font sizes and column resize based on the viewer's preferences. The font sizes can easily be increased or reduced. The columns resize when the browser window is increased or decreased. The fluid design gives users the flexibility to change the site based on their preferences.
The 'Quicklinks' in the upper right corner of every page can now be customized with a list of your favorite UA websites. Select "Quicklinks" from the blue menu bar above, select 'Edit' at the bottom of the menu box that appears. A list of your currently selected Quicklinks will appear at the top. A list of 'Common Quicklinks' will appear below.
to add and entry
to delete an entry
to move an entry up
to move an entry down
A link to 'More . . .' appears following the list of 'Common Quicklinks'. The option will display the A-Z Website Index and allow you to add any of the entries to your Quicklinks.
Click the "X" in the lower right corner to close the Quicklink menu.
Breadcrumbs appear immediately below the red bar at the top of each page. Breadcrumbs show where you are within the UA website. They leave a "breadcrumb trail" to help you find your way. They allow you to jump back one or more sections without having to use the back button.
A 'Show More/Less Detail' feature is located in the upper right-hand corner of most pages. By default, many hyperlink links include a short annotation. Users can select 'Show Less' to turn the annotations off or 'Show More' to turn them on again.
The search box now appears in the upper right corner of each page. The Google Search has been expanded beyond the basic Google results to include:
Our search program automatically pulls the mostly frequently sought after links to the top of the results page as a "best match".
Links to the Campus Map are displayed when a building name is typed into the Google search box.
When a full name is entered into the search box, results from the UA Phonebook are displayed.
Most pages of the new site provide a suggestion box to make it easy to give us your input. The suggestion boxes are located within the gray box on the right of most pages. You can also send comments directly to: uaredesign@listserv.arizona.edu.
