Vikram Jain
"Getting the Full Experience."
They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Case in point: Vikram Jain. When he first got a taste of what the Asian Pacific American Student Affairs office had to offer, he was definitely hungry for more.
Social responsibility was not what led Vikram Jain to the UA’s Asian Pacific American Student Affairs office. It was something more basic. “They offered free food,” he explains.
But it wasn’t the food that kept him coming back. It was how going through one door opened others. “I got exposed to so many programs that I probably would never have known about,” he says. “My advice for students is get involved! It helps you develop skills to be a better collaborator, better leader and a better advocate. Understanding different perspectives helps you interact with anyone. This makes you a better candidate for jobs and scholarships and a better contributor to society. If you don’t get involved, you’re not going to have the full college experience.”
In addition to serving on the Asian Pacific American Student Affairs board of directors, 2008 alumnus and new graduate student, Vikram Jain serves on President Shelton’s Asian Pacific American Advisory Council.
