World Care is 2012 Cats in the Community Beneficiary

World Care is about to get some relief of its own.

The humanitarian aid organization, founded in Tucson 17 years ago, has been selected as the beneficiary of this year's Cats in the Community Day, which is March 3.

On that day, 350 to 400 employee and student volunteers from the University will descend upon the grounds of World Care, which has headquarters in the former Julia Keen Elementary School at 3538 E. Ellington Place, near South Alvernon Way and East 32nd Street.

There, the volunteers will clean, paint, organize, plant and decorate, giving the nonprofit a much-needed makeover and facelift.

Past recipients of Cats in the Community help include Sewell Elementary, the Wildcat School, Project YES and the Primavera Foundation.
