Video: 'Abuelitas' Reach Out to Campus With Free Hugs

Didn't get a hug on Valentine's Day? Some affectionate grandmothers set out to remedy that problem last Tuesday on the University of Arizona Mall.

The Abuelitas, a group of volunteer Tucson grandmothers who regularly interact with UA students through Chicano/Hispano Student Affairs, set up in front of the Administration Building to embrace as many passersby as they could with free hugs.

"It just feels good to be around the students. The University is a big place and we try to make it feel like a smaller place," said Rosalie Crowe, one of the five abuelitas offering free squeezes.  read more »
