UAConnect Migration Deadline Suspended While UITS Works on Next Move
University Information Technology Services and campus IT support staff are working on a new solution to the problems that have delayed migration to the new employee email system, UAConnect.
UITS announced late last month that the latest migration deadline of Nov. 10 has been suspended until further notice while staff explores campus email options.
The UA announced in May 2010 that it would purchase Microsoft's Business Productivity Online Suite, an integrated email and calendaring “cloud” product, to replace the University's antiquated WebMail and Meeting Maker systems.
The migration process was scheduled to be completed by spring 2011. After working closely with Microsoft to address a number of issues and concerns, UITS said in August that it anticipated a smooth transition going forward.
So far, about 8,300 accounts have migrated to the new system out of a total of nearly 14,000.
