UA Doctor Honored for Public Health Work in Arizona, Border Regions
Dr. Cecilia Rosales' interest in public health began at a young age when she lived with family in the U.S.-Mexico border regions of Arizona/Sonora and El Paso/Juarez.
As a medical student, Rosales learned about the issues that concern residents in these communities: lack of potable water, which leads to a high incidence of diarrheal diseases; poor air quality, which leads to respiratory problems; and lack of employment, which can lead to limited access to health care.
