'Sustainable UA' E-Newsletter Debuts This Week

With more than 40,000 students and nearly 15,000 employees, the University of Arizona campus is like a little city. There's rush hour – just try to cross campus at noon in a hurry-and public transportation. There's parks and recreation – the UA is the longest continually maintained public green space in Arizona, and buildings and grounds. If all of the UA's building space was combined in a single story under one roof, it would cover an area of roughly a half square mile.

Stretching out from Tucson, on UA campuses from Oracle to Phoenix, the design, maintenance and management of this little city has a big impact on how sustainable the UA is as an institution.

Part of what the UA Office of Sustainability has been tasked with is this very endeavor – that is, coordinating and communicating the myriad efforts scattered across the University that are all working toward a sustainable UA.
