Steward Observatory Wins Award for Work Safety and Health

Steward Observatory has received the Community Safety Award from the Southern Arizona Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers in recognition of outstanding dedication to safety and health practices in the workplace.

"It is quite rare for units in the public education sector to show the kind of development with regard to safety and health guidelines that we see with Steward Observatory," said Mark Grushka, manager for biosafety and biosecurity with the University of Arizona Office for the Responsible Conduct of Research, who nominated Steward Observatory for the award. "The program's comprehensive scope, its development and leadership, is right up there with what we typically see in corporations of global stature."
