State Relations Expanding AdvoCATS Program
They say that when you're trying to sell something, you should work your "warm" connections first.
The idea is that the people who already know you are most likely to listen to what you have to say. And they can talk to their friends who don't know you and spread your message.
AdvoCATS, the University's legislative advocacy program, is applying that concept to influence state legislators who make decisions that affect the UA through its "Adopt a Legislator" program.
Former Arizona Senate President Tim Bee was hired in May as the UA's senior director of state relations and was named a few months later as the University's associate vice president for state relations. About a month after Bee was hired, the school hired Beth Sauer, who is now the director of state relations.
