State Pension System Relatively Healthy, ASRS Director Says

Despite recent media coverage that paints a grim picture of the fiscal health of public pension funds throughout the nation, Arizona's pension fund is doing well, the head of the state retirement system told University of Arizona employees and retirees on Tuesday.

Paul Matson, director of the Arizona State Retirement System, provided an overview of the system, discussed recently passed legislation affecting the system and answered questions from retirees and those nearing retirement during an evening presentation at the College of Education.  read more »
