Search Committee Hopes to Name New President by March, Faculty Senate Told
The committee charged with finding a new president for the University hopes to make its final selection no later than March, Arizona Regent Rick Myers told the Faculty Senate on Monday.
The University of Arizona Presidential Search Committee, of which Myers is co-chairman and which met for the first time last week, is already developing a candidate pool and forming an advisory council of 20 to 25 people to provide feedback as the process moves forward, he said.
"We would like to have the person hired by the March timeframe so they can start next summer," he said. That means interviews will likely be conducted in December and January.
Myers warned that the candidate pool is not very large, especially considering that nine other university president searches are also going on, with four or five more about to begin.
