Registration for Winter Session Online Offerings Heats Up

Traditionally, the holiday break between fall and spring semesters is about as quiet as it gets on the University of Arizona campus. Classes are over. Degrees have been conferred on the graduates. And just about everyone heads either for home or a winter vacation.

But not everyone.

More than 2,600 students have signed up for the UA's 2011-12 winter session, which began Dec. 19 and ends Tuesday. The University offers classes in subjects ranging from accounting and classics to management information systems and Spanish. Most are for undergraduates, but a few graduate courses also are listed.

And while a few classrooms are open, the growing trend is for students to take the classes online.
