May Date Set to Move UAConnect Email Onto Campus Servers

All employee email accounts will be moved to on-campus servers during the weekend of May 19-20, University Information Technology Services has announced.

The move follows several unsuccessful attempts to migrate all campus employee accounts to an off-site – or "cloud" – system run by Microsoft, and months of collaborative consideration and investigation by UITS and the campus IT community.

That original migration process was scheduled to be completed by spring 2011. According to UITS, most people who made the change reported being very satisfied with the service. But as more people migrated, users began reporting problems such as having their email arrive late or out of order and an inability to sync between devices.
