LQP Asks: What should the new president know about the University of Arizona?

Since the announcement about two weeks ago that Ann Weaver Hart, the University of Arizona's president-elect, was the sole candidate for the post, the campus community has gradually learned about who she is.

For the past six years, she has been the president of Philadelphia's Temple University, home to the academic medical center Temple University Health System, just as the University of Arizona has The University of Arizona Medical Center, which is also an academic hospital.

Before that, she was president for four years at the University of New Hampshire, which is a land-grant university like the UA.

Through a series of meetings with the public, the media and campus constituents last week, Hart talked about her focus on academic medicine, the need for more students to graduate on time and her commitment to professional development for employees at all levels.
