LQP Asks: What Earth-friendly practice would you like to see implemented at the UA?
The University of Arizona campus has some buildings with pretty cool Earth-friendly features, namely its two newest residence halls – Árbol de la Vida and Likins – which earned the highest sustainability designation, LEED platinum, from the U.S. Green Building Council.
The UA also uses reclaimed water for all its turf; mops made out of soda bottles with handles made from bamboo; E-85 fuel – 85 percent ethanol, which is made from corn and burns cleaner than gasoline – in much of its motor pool; solar-powered trash compactors; rainwater harvesting; and solar panels on at least five buildings.
