Employee and Alumni Art Exhibiton Revived for Family Weekend

An exhibition of art created by University of Arizona faculty, staff and alumni is being revived for Family Weekend.

Family Weekend veterans and newcomers who visit the main UA BookStore on Friday can head to the lowest level to take a look at the exhibit, which is part of "Artistic Expressions," a series of art-related events – visual, musical and literary – that the bookstore is hosting this year, said Kurtis Durfey, who works in marketing and creative design for the bookstore.

In coming months, "Artistic Expressions" will feature student work as well, Durfey said. The kickoff event is co-sponsored by the UA Parents & Family Association.

The bookstore used to host "Artistic Expressions" as a live music event in the store, and separately there was a "Read Like a Faculty Member" book signing event featuring faculty authors every Family Weekend.

Several months ago, bookstore staff began planning to revive "Artistic Expressions" as more than a music event. Soon after, planning began for this year's Family Weekend festivities.
