Email Migration Instructions Coming to Your Inbox Monday
As the clock ticks steadily toward a campuswide "email vacation" May 19-20, University Information Technology Services is ramping up its efforts to make sure all goes well.
All employee email accounts will be moved to on-campus servers that weekend, bringing to an end a nearly two-year effort to upgrade the employee email system.
UITS will email instructions to every employee email user giving a heads-up of what to expect during the email vacation and directing users to online resources that will help them configure their particular computers in preparation for the change, said Richard Holland, UITS communications manager.
After the move, all employee email accounts will run through on-campus servers; currently, some are routed through a "cloud" system operated off-site by Microsoft and some are on campus because they couldn't migrate to the cloud.
