Early Closure Today for Obama Visit
With the University of Arizona preparing for a visit from President Barack Obama this evening, employees not involved in the event have been authorized to leave early.
Obama will speak at 6 p.m. at the "Together We Thrive: Tucson and America" event at McKale Memorial Center. (Details about the event are available in the UANews story "President Obama to Speak at UA.")
Because the appearance by Obama and his wife, Michelle, is expected to draw thousands to campus and lead to significant congestion on surrounding streets, UA President Robert N. Shelton has authorized the paid release of campus employees at 3 p.m. (Read more in his memo to the UA community.)
