2nd Annual Food Day to Feature Demos, Rooftop Tours, Picnic on the Mall
Sustainable food lovers, unite: The University of Arizona is again joining the national Food Day celebration by hosting a Food Day Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. next Wednesday on the UA Mall.
It will be a slightly scaled-down version of last year's event, which lasted an entire week. But the Oct. 24 fair will have no shortage of activities for employees and students to learn about food-related issues such as diet-related disease, hunger, working conditions for food and farm workers, the environmental impacts of food production, and food marketing – the goals set forth by the Center for Science in the Public Interest when it announced the first-ever Food Day last year.
A big feature of this year's celebration will be food demonstrations, "to bring it home in a very hands-on way, how to prepare healthy and sustainable foods," said Hana Feeney, a nutrition counselor with the Campus Health Service.
