Galareka Harrison, 18, was taken into custody this afternoon by the
University of Arizona Police Department after being released from
University Medical Center. She will be charged with first-degree murder
and will be booked into the Pima County Jail. She has been placed on
interim suspension from the UA and is not permitted on campus until
further notice.

UAPD is conducting an investigation following the death of a student at the Greenlee residence hall. Tucson Police
Department Homicide and Crime Scene Units are assisting the investigation. The situation is isolated and contained
and there is no immediate threat to the community. UA Student Affairs and UAPD are continuing to follow up with
the affected parties.
Mia J. Henderson, an 18-year-old Native American female and resident of the Navajo Nation in Arizona, died at
approximately 6:30 a.m. She was a freshman from Tuba City, Arizona, majoring in biology.
Greenlee is a coed residence hall located at the corner of Fourth Street and Highland Avenue. Approximately 170
students live in the residence hall.
Classes will continue as scheduled today. Students who would like to access counseling services can contact UA
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at 520-621-3334. Students living in UA residence halls also can
contact their hall director or resident assistant.
Parents of UA students who have concerns and would like to speak to someone can contact the UA Parents Association
office at 621-0884 or uafamily@email.arizona.edu.
