The Office of International Student Programs and Services supports the international student population at the University of Arizona providing advising, programming, referral, liaison and advocacy for all international students.


Center for English as a Second Language
All programs at the Center for English as a Second Language meet high standards of excellence. CESL has been fully accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation.

Writing Skills Improvement Program
The Writing Skills Improvement Program (WSIP) is an academic support program which provides free professional individual tutoring to students taking freshman composition and writing-related courses across all degree programs. The program consists of the following components: a) Individual Tutorials, b) Weekly Writing Workshops, c) Drop-in Service, d) Professional Writing Development Tutorials (for underrepresented graduate students), e) Graduate Writing Institute (for graduate students), and f) Summer Institute for Writing and Thinking (for high school students and school teachers).

Information for International Students
Provides guidelines on filing annual federal and state tax return; Introduces free NRA tax preparation tax software named CINTAX  and  on resident Alien Tax Compliance System named GLACIER; Provides instructions and assistance on applying for Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (on Form W-7) and Social Security Number, as well as information on the tax withholding requirements & tax treaty exemptions on payments received from the University of Arizona.           


Nonresident Alien Tax Compliance System: GLACIER
What is GLACIER? Glacier is a web-based, nonresident alien tax compliance system produced by Arctic International LLC. Who should use GLACIER? Foreign nationals (except for lawful permanent residents) who receive income from the University of Arizona are generally required to use GLACIER.


Nonresident Alien Tax Preparation System: CINTAX
The Division of International Affairs has purchased a site license to CINTAX, a tax return preparation software program designed specifically for nonresident alien students, scholars, trainees, researchers and other educational statuses to prepare their U.S. federal income tax return - Form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ and Federal Form 8843. Use is limited to University of Arizona students and scholars and their dependents.
