Information for Prospective Students

The annual Young Women’s Empowerment Academy, sponsored by the Commission on the Status of Women, teaches Tucson-area girls and their families about leadership, identity, community service, and planning for college.The University of Arizona promotes inclusive environments where all students can achieve their full potential. The resources provided here are meant to facilitate students’ entry into the University and their pathways from acceptance through graduation and beyond.

High School and Middle School Outreach provides middle and high school students and their parents a number of opportunities to learn about the University of Arizona through on-campus programs as well as programs offered in their communities and schools. There are additional programs that help students prepare for college entry, including exploring various fields and improving academic skills.

Early Academic Outreach (EAO)
Provides college preparation programs and services for middle and high school students in southern Arizona.

(EOA) Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement

Works to increase the number of ethnic minority, low-income, and first-generation college-bound students who are eligible to enter a degree program at a university.

 

            (EOA) Native American Science and Engineering

            Program (NASEP)

A free, year-long program designed to provide Native American high school students with the necessary resources to enroll in college and pursue a career in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).  The 3rd Annual NASEP program hosted 28 students from across Arizona and each learned to build and customize their own desktop computers.  See this video of the NASEP students in action.

           

(EOA) College Academy for Parents

Guides parents through everything from college admissions and financial aid to academic preparation and parent engagement.

 

            (EOA) GEAR UP

Works to significantly increase the number of underrepresented students who are prepared to enter and succeed in college or other job training after high school.

HS – Summer Engineering Robotics Camp
Gives students the opportunity to build robots from Lego Mindstorm kits and compete in design team challenges testing their models for speed, endurance, and other technological abilities. Learn how an idea becomes an engineering reality.

MedStart
Provides an opportunity for Arizona high school juniors to participate in hand-on health and science activities while earning college credit.

Middle Schools Tours of UA
Available on a first-come, first-served basis. Schools may sign up through the UA Visitor Center's online form.

PharmCamp
Provides middle school students the opportunity to learn about the field of pharmacy. The camp includes interactive exercises, labs, projects and activities designed to teach the many aspects of pharmacy.

SALT (Strategic Alternatives Learning Techniques Outreach Programs)
With 39,000 students enrolled in more than 300 different degree     fields -- from medicine to dance, engineering to astronomy – UA offers     literally something for everyone.Helps middle and high school students with attention and learning challenges get excited about college while informing them about the types of support available to them at the college level.

Summer of Excellence
An opportunity for academically talented high school students to take university courses while still in high school.

Undergraduate Admissions
Actively recruits students from diverse backgrounds (ethnic groups, socioeconomic status, and first generation) to the UA through diversity and inclusion programming, counselor education, high school visitation programs, early outreach, and community involvement initiatives.

Young Women’s Empowerment Academy
Provides a series of workshops on topics like self-esteem, nurturing a positive attitude, keeping a healthy body image, and planning for college (open to young women and young men).

 

When it comes to food at UA, you can spend your entire college career sampling all the menus and still not taste everything. There are more than 35 places to eat on campus alone, serving familiar favorites as well as unique fare. Something nutritious and tasty always is a short, sunny walk away.
