Soil and Water Science

The Soil and Water Science (B.S.) is no longer accepting new students. Students should see the Environmental Science (B.E.S.) for more information.

Soil and water science is the study of the productivity, quality and management of soils, and the interaction between soils and the environment. Students develop skills that enable them to address environmental issues such as water quality, global climate change, land degradation, air pollution, acid rain, and waste management. The soil science option focuses on the physical, biological and chemical interactions in the soil environment. The option in soil-plant-nutrient relationships focuses on the link between soil fertility, water quality, and plant health, with an emphasis on crop production.
