This program focuses on the role of hearing, language, and speech in human communication. The discipline covers the anatomy, physiology, and neuroanatomy of speech and hearing, as well as language, hearing, and speech disorders. Some careers require professional certification -- an MS degree is required for certification in Arizona and fulfills certification requirements of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Major Requirements:

• major requires a course in statistics in addition to the math general education requirement.

Careers:

• speech-language pathology, audiology, speech science, and hearing science -- in university, laboratory, medical, public school, or other clinical settings.
