The Spanish program offers instruction in language, linguistics, literature, pedagogy, grammar and composition, and literature and culture. An alternate track is available for native speakers of Spanish. Programs include a language and literature concentration, and a Hispanic language and linguistics concentration. A teaching major is also offered, leading to certification to teach in Arizona public schools. Students may spend a year abroad in Spain, or a summer in Spain or Guadalajara, Mexico.
