This program combines physics, math and engineering -- students learn physics in the context of engineering and technology. In addition to preparation for graduate study in physics and engineering, the major prepares students to work in most major industry laboratories and in electrical, electronic, and solid state engineering. Other opportunities exist in the communications, optics, and defense industries. Engineering physicists may also contribute to space exploration and to energy and thermonuclear power development.
major requires math beyond basic calculus
