ABET accredited Materials scientists study the structure, properties and behavior of metals, ceramics, glasses, polymers, semiconductors, and composites. They strive for a deeper understanding of existing materials and work to develop new ones. Materials engineering focuses on selecting, processing and applying materials. Reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the field, students take an unusually large number of elective courses.
