MIS majors learn to apply computer technology, quantitative techniques, and administrative skills to the information-processing problems of organizations. By combining computer technology with management decision-making methods, students learn to analyze, design, implement, and manage computerized information systems in an organizational environment. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor, programmers, systems analysts, and computer specialists have the highest employment growth rate.
High School Preparation:
- Entrance Requirements
- English, Algebra I and II, plane geometry required
- It is recommended that math be taken throughout all four years of high
school advancing through pre-calculus or calculus.
Major Requirements:
- Major requires math beyond general education requirements, but not
beyond basic calculus; includes Business Math 1, Business Math 2 and
statistics. Transfer students (other than those at Pima Community
College) should take one semester of brief calculus AND one semester of
finite mathematics.
