Finance majors analyze financial
problems in a variety of settings and
develop an understanding of capital
structure, financial growth and failure,
interest rates, and savings and
investments. Students also study the
properties of different markets
(international financial markets, stocks,
bonds, and commodities) and the
relationship between financial markets
and various financial institutions.
High School Preparation:
- Entrance Requirements
- English, Algebra I and II,
plane geometry required
- It is recommended that math be taken throughout all four years of high
school advancing through pre-calculus or calculus.
Major Requirements:
- Major requires math beyond general education requirements, but not
beyond basic calculus; includes Business Math 1, Business Math 2 and
statistics. Transfer students (other than those at Pima Community
College) should take one semester of brief calculus AND one semester of
finite mathematics.
