The first year of the five-year program is pre-professional -- students apply for pre-professional status when they apply for admission to the university. At the end of their first year, students apply for the professional phase of the program -- years two through five.

The college chooses students in early summer for fall admission. To be
considered, students must have a completed all pre-professional courses
(except electives), have no deficiencies, be in good academic standing,
and submit a portfolio (sample of creative work). Admission is competitive
and most admitted students have grade point averages above 3.0. A laptop
computer is required; contact the college for specifications.
The College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture has a strong national reputation and its graduates are sought by firms throughout the country. The college is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) and affiliated with the Association of the Collegiate Schools of Architecture. It maintains liaisons with the Southern Arizona Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and AIA Arizona.
